Baker helps Lady Braves down Saints

Staff report
FONDA— Kaitlyn Baker scattered 12 hits in her season pitching debut to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 6-3 victory over St. Johnsville in a Western Athletic Conference girls softball game, Thursday.
Baker, the team's everyday second baseman, struck out four and walked three to help the Lady Braves improve to 7-5 in the WAC and 9-6 overall.
"Kaitlyn did a good job," said Fonda-Fultonville head coach Kari Callery. "It's difficult to throw like that for the first time out, but she did it."
St. Johnsville opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning, but F-F took control with a run in the second inning, two in the third and one more in the fourth.
Amy Hitchcock sparked F-F's two-run third inning with a solo home run. Kayla Ladd added a run-scoring double in the rally. Both singled later in the game.
Baker helped her own cause with two singles.
Richelle Lyons had a double and single to lead St. Johnsville.
Fonda-Fultonville travels to Gloversville today in a non-league game and returns to WACcompetition next Monday at Mayfield.
